RUNNER OF THE MONTH - NOVEMBER 2022

In our running community group on Facebook we see inspirational stories and journeys nearly everyday. The running journeys that our members go on are important to us and we love talking and interacting with our members everyday. We have decided to make this our special page to show a runner each month from our community who not only have inspired us but also impressed us with there effort, progress and general love for running.

NOVEMBER 2022 Runner Of the month - ESTELLE WHITBY

Estelle has been with The Running Community for just over 2 years now! Estelle has been doing absolutely fantastic with her running and she has shown great consistency and commitment. This has shown throughout Estelle's amazing trail running which has been the highlight for us for all of us to see.

A message from estelle

I started running in December 2016 at the age of 39, which was as surprising to me as it was to everyone who knows me, as I’d always been the least athletic person imaginable. But I wanted to improve my fitness and take on a new challenge. I fell in love with running almost immediately.

In April 2017, I broke my left ankle during a free fall jump that went wrong, and I was out of action for 2 months. I had just healed and started running again when, in September 2017, I was hit by a car while crossing the road. My left ankle was completely shattered, and I came close to having my left foot amputated. Thankfully it was saved, but the surgeon told me I would never run again, and that I would need to walk with a cane for the rest of my life.

Nothing has given me more joy than proving him wrong! I will never, ever take running for granted as I so nearly lost a life-changing gift.

What I love most about The Running Community is the encouragement, support and motivation that this group gives to all its members. It truly is a community in every sense of the word – diverse, welcoming and inclusive.
